The unique setting, tucked away in a quiet courtyard brings a flavour of Thailand to Wiltshire. As soon as you step inside, the warm and spicy aromas will transport you to an altogether more relaxing place. 

Yuphin Singtothong is the business woman behind Thai Kitchen, but her regular customers know that she is far more than that. She is the personality and the character of this wonderful restaurant. Her attitude to food is down to earth, and her philosophy is that if she won’t eat a dish, it won’t be on the table. She doesn’t cheat on the quality of ingredients, and insists on everything being bought in fresh. Thai Kitchen’s success is also due to the front of house staff, headed up by the friendly and efficient Sarah. The other members of the team are all from Thailand, but also local; as soon as the restaurant opened they came in for lunch and a chat, and the business took off so quickly that they were soon offered work.  

Yuphin is certainly no newcomer to the hospitality trade. Starting out back home in Thailand, she then came to Bath in 1984, where her first job was washing dishes in a small restaurant behind Jolly’s. Within one month she was sous chef! After working in other establishments in Bath she moved on to Bristol in 1993, where she and her partner had a restaurant and club on the Whiteladies Road. She has also had businesses in Portishead and Chipping Sodbury. Prior to opening Thai Taste, (as Thai Kitchen was called when it opened,) Yuphin and her partner were running a pub in Midsomer Norton, but she must have been missing the restaurant trade, because when the chance came to open in Chippenham she took it. If you love Thai food and the culture you will be extremely glad that she did! The quality of the ingredients, the attention to detail, the warmth of welcome, all make Thai Kitchen a really special place to go. You are guaranteed to have a wonderful time.
